We understand that everyone may go through personal hardships at one time or another. When this happens to Marathon Oil employees, we want to provide help. For assistance with a variety of personal issues, all employees and their families are enrolled in Marathon Oil’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) coverage. Some of the services include:

Back-Up Care Benefits

Through Bright Horizons, you have access to up to 15 days of emergency back-up child care and adult/elder relative care services at high-quality child care centers in your area or from screened in-home caregivers. Enrollment is free, and you can enroll at any time. You pay only when you use the service, or if you have a late cancellation. Cost for center-based care is $15/child or $25/family; in-home care is $6/hour with a four-hour minimum.

Bright Horizons also gives you access to Sitter City, an online caregiver locating service. And a contact center is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, to coordinate all care arrangements — even the night before a service is needed.

How Do I Register?

You and your family member(s) must be registered for the Back-Up Care Advantage Program before you may make a reservation and use the back-up care services. We strongly recommend that you register in advance so that you are ready to use the Back-Up Care Advantage Program when you need care. There are two ways to register: Online at www.careadvantage.com/marathonoil and enter username TotalRewards and password Cares4you. You can also call the toll-free number at 1-877-BH-CARES (1-877-242-2737). Care Consultants are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

Adoption Assistance

Expanding a family through adoption is cause to celebrate. To help that dream come true, Marathon Oil provides financial relief by offering assistance to families who adopt a child. Eligible employees will receive up to $7,500 in reimbursement per child, to a lifetime maximum of $15,000 per employee.

The Adoption Assistance Plan is available to all regular full-time and part-time employees with at least 12 months of service. For information on reimbursement claims, contact ADP at 1-866-334-7888.

Educational Reimbursement

Are you interested in completing your degree? Maybe taking your career to the next level? Marathon Oil encourages and supports the ambition of our employees to further their education through our Educational Reimbursement Plan.

The plan offers eligible employees college course reimbursement for tuition and required textbooks and fees. Reimbursement is 100%, up to $550 per semester hour or up to $370 per quarter hour, after any other sources of financial aid are applied. There are no annual or per semester, quarter or session credit hour limitations, and reimbursement is made after successful completion of the course.

The Educational Reimbursement Plan also covers time and expense reimbursement for the preparation for and taking of Company-approved certification or licensing examinations. The certification or license should be new (maintenance of an existing license is generally not covered), and it must relate to your job function or career. Eligible expenses are reimbursed at 100% after any other sources of financial aid are applied.

Matching Gifts

At Marathon Oil, we take great pride in strengthening our educational community. Through our Matching Gifts Plan, when you make a contribution of at least $50 in cash or securities to an accredited college or university, the Company will contribute a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $10,000 per employee.

The plan:

  • Encourages you to support your alma mater or another institution of higher education.
  • Provides a means by which you can share with Marathon Oil in a worthwhile cause.
  • Helps determine the recipients of Marathon Oil’s support of higher education.

Legal Services Plan

For a monthly fee of $19.73, the LegalGUARD legal services plan provides free or discounted legal fees for a range of commonly used services, when you use a LegalEASE network attorney. Examples of services include will preparation, power of attorney, immigration assistance, ID theft restoration, mediation and estate planning.

You can elect legal services plan coverage as a new hire or during the Benefits Open Enrollment period held each fall.
