Benefits Enrollment … and What Happens Next(For New and Rehired Regular Full-Time and Regular Part-Time Employees)

What You Need to Know

To make sure you and your family get the benefits coverage you want, it’s important to understand the enrollment process so your benefits elections are received on time.

What You Need to Do

  • Online enrollment: The online benefits enrollment process can be completed on a computer connected to the Marathon Oil network, through the Internet Explorer Browser. Go to HR Central, and choose 'My First Days' under the 'Quick Links' on the left side of the page.
  • Paper enrollment: The alternate method of enrolling in benefits is to complete the Benefits Enrollment Form. If you submit this form within 30 days of your hire date, your benefits are effective the date you were hired. If not you will need to wait until the company’s Benefits Open Enrollment period and enroll for the following plan year.

Deadline for Enrollment

Enrollment for each benefit plan must be completed within 30 days of your date of hire or the Company will deem that you have waived coverage in that benefit plan. If you miss this deadline you will need to wait for the company’s Benefits Open Enrollment period and enroll for the following plan year. Claims incurred prior to the date of enrollment will not be covered.

Enrolling Your Dependents

If you have dependents, complete the Affirmation portion of the Benefits Enrollment Form and send it to the Marathon Oil Benefits Department, as indicated on the form. The form should be completed for all dependents, even if you do not intend to add them to your benefit coverage at this time. Read the Affirmation for Eligible Dependents section carefully, as the definition of a dependent for Health Plan coverage is different from the definition of a dependent for coverage in the Dental, Vision, Accidental Death and Dismemberment and Child Life Insurance Plans. Keep in mind that if you enroll dependents in benefit coverage, it may be 10 days between the date the Marathon Oil Benefits Department enters the information on our system and the date the information is posted to the United Healthcare, Express Scripts and/or CIGNA systems.

After you return the Affirmation (and applicable documents, if any), the Marathon Oil Benefits Department will add your dependents to the system. Benefit coverage will be applied to your dependent records as indicated by your online enrollment (or completion and return of the paper enrollment form). A Benefits Confirmation will be emailed to you or mailed to your home address. Review it carefully and report any issues to us as soon as possible. Keep the Confirmation for your records.

If You Want to Add a Domestic Partner

To add a domestic partner, you must submit the original Affidavit of Domestic Partner Relationship form, along with a completed Benefits Enrollment Form. The Affidavit must be signed by both parties in the presence of a notary public, who must also sign and notarize it with their stamp or seal. Any discrepancies will result in the return of the Affidavit and the delay of benefits for a domestic partner.

Please Note: If you are married, do NOT complete the Affidavit of Domestic Partner Relationship form to add your spouse as a domestic partner.

Health Plan — Key Reminders

If you enroll in the Health Plan:

  • You will receive a higher level of benefit from the plan and pay a lower deductible if you go to UnitedHealthcare’s network providers. Prescription drug coverage is provided only if you use Express Scripts participating pharmacies or Express Scripts mail order for your covered prescriptions. Information on the Health Plan can be found at www.MRObenefits.com. Choose the 'Medical and Pharmacy' tab.
  • ID cards and welcome packets from Express Scripts (prescription drugs) and UnitedHealthcare will be mailed to your home address within three weeks after your benefit choices are entered on the system. Please Note: Only the employee’s name will appear on the cards.
  • If you need to schedule a medical visit before you receive your cards, you may have to pay out of pocket. Once you receive your cards your doctor can resubmit the claim and you will be provided reimbursement from UnitedHealthcare.
  • If you need a prescription prior to receiving your Express Scripts ID cards, go to a participating pharmacy, pay for the drug, then go to www.MROBenefits.com and complete a reimbursement form. Complete the information, attach the appropriate documents and return it to the Marathon Oil Benefits Department. We will have Express Scripts process it, apply the necessary deductible and reimburse you as appropriate.
  • It is your responsibility to determine if your provider is in your plan’s network (including network pharmacies for prescription drugs). For information on the vendor websites to search for network providers go to www.MRObenefits.com and choose the 'Contacts' tab.

  • ID cards are not issued for this plan; however, if you want cards, a few weeks after enrollment you can register at www.cigna.com and print a card.
  • To search for network dental providers, go to www.cigna.com or call Cigna at 1-800-244-6224.
  • Each dental visit must have a claim form submitted (or your dental provider can submit the claim electronically). To obtain a claim form, go to www.MRObenefits.com, choose the 'Forms' tab and click on the 'CIGNA Dental Claim Form (PPO).'

Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Account

If you enroll in the Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) or the Limited Health Care Spending Account (LHCSA) (for employees enrolled in the HIP Option only), you will receive a Spending Account card and a welcome packet from UnitedHealthcare. If you are enrolled in the Dependent Care Spending Account (DCSA), you receive a welcome packet from UnitedHealthcare. To obtain claim forms, go to www.MRObenefits.com, choose 'Forms' link at the top and look for 'Flexible Spending Account' forms.

  • Information on the United Healthcare Vision Plan can be found at www.MRObenefits.com. Look under the 'Vision' tab.
  • To search for network providers, go to www.myuhc.com If you go to an out-of-network provider, you will receive a lower level of benefit from the plan, and you must submit a claim form for reimbursement. To obtain a claim form, go to www.MRObenefits.com, choose the 'Forms' tab, and select the 'Vision Claim Form.'

  • Fidelity’s system will be able to accept your enrollment as early as the Tuesday following the completion of your first week. If you would like to contribute with your first pay check it will be necessary for you to complete your enrollment prior to the Friday following the completion of your first week of employment.
