Adding a Domestic Partner

Employees must satisfy the criteria established in the Marathon Oil Affidavit of Domestic Partner Relationship form for the relationship to be recognized by the Company. If the criteria is met, mail the completed (and notarized) original document to the Marathon Oil Benefits Department at the address listed on the form. Eligible children of your domestic partner can be added to the system at the same time.

If You Need to Change… Then You Need to…

Health, Dental and/or Vision coverage

  • Compare the health, dental and vision plans offered by the Company to that of your domestic partner’s employer, to determine who should carry benefit coverage.
  • Compare coverage, deductibles, coinsurance/co-payments, monthly contributions, additional charges/penalties such as late cancellation charges, and determine how benefits are coordinated. Be aware of any rules or limitations that may apply when enrolling late in the plan or changing benefits.
  • If you and your domestic partner are both employed by Marathon Oil, be aware that only one of you can insure eligible children, and that you cannot be a member and a dependent of the same plan.
  • If you want to add your Domestic Partner to the applicable benefit plans, you must do so within 31 days of the date your domestic partner first meets the qualifications specified in the Marathon Oil Affidavit of Domestic Partner Relationship form. If you are adding children to benefits coverage, pay special attention to the eligibility requirements for children in the different plans, as described in the Affirmation section of the Benefit Change Form.
  • Complete the Benefit Change Form and fax it to 713-513-4495, mail it to the Marathon Oil Benefits Department at Health & Welfare Benefits, 5555 San Felipe Street, Houston, TX 77056, or scan and email it to MROBenefitsHelp@MarathonOil.com. If you miss the 31-day deadline, you can enroll eligible dependents during the Benefits Open Enrollment period (usually in November), to be effective the following January 1.
